Wild Love
where the wild things are
Having been inspired by Maurice Sendak since our youth, we would like to wish one of our favorite illustrators and storytellers a very happy 81st birthday (june 10). As we love, love… we were very happy to find a site called We Love You So that has been established to collect everything and anything relating to Where the Wild Things Are. We anxiously await Spike Jonze’s film version of the book which will hit the cinemas later this year, and recommend this site as it’s updated often with goodies and insights about the production of the film. Quality stuff.

Inspired by a recent trip to Hawaii, we felt a spark to illustrate some of the beautiful creatures we saw. After a few months of researching, sketching and printing, here is our representation of 6 of the many species of whales in the world. Our whale illustrations have been applied to individual cards, a tea towel and a limited edition letterpress print.

phew part 2… with us still recovering from the stationery show, we mustered up enough energy to set up at the Renegade Craft Fair this past weekend in Brooklyn and we couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. Thanks to all who stopped by to share the sunshine. What finer way to spend an amazing sunny weekend in the BK than to hang out in the park with lots of crafty people. Above is a pic taken by our friend Minhee of the two of us with our niece (and soon to be big sister) June. Thanks to Karen of Dari for the booth share. The special “lemonade” in the foam cups were also a nice treat.
Update: June is now a big sister. Welcome to our world baby Kai. Whoo-hoo!

All the animals, so many animals…. The good folks over at The Dieline asked us to share the packaging for the Kingdom Animalia. We provided some images as well as more information about the collection. Head over there and give them 5 stars. We will provide hugs in return.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. We began this year’s National Stationery Show as part of the sophomore crowd, hitting our first anniversary. What now seems to us like summer camp, seeing familiar faces and meeting new friends, we had a grand ol’ time at the show. It was nice having both parts of enormouschampion represent for the 3 1/2 days this year. A special shout out to all the press folks who came by…. you are all too kind. In no particular order check out some of our new and old friends who were also at the show…. yellow owl workshop, sugarcube press, dee&lala, sub-studio, paper+cup, two trick pony, the great lakes, pearl & marmalade, albertine press, linda & harriett, binth, hello! lucky, twig & fig, wanart, bird dog press, sycamore street press, and dutch door press. Paper Anniversary, here we come!

With a week to go and some more sleepless nights, we are gearing up for this year’s National Stationery Show in NYC. We’ll be spending May 17th – 20th in booth #2036. If you’re attending, please come by and say hello. After last year’s debut, this will be our official first anniversary. (We hope the cake in the freezer is still good….)
