Dynamic America: a History of General Dynamics Corporation and Its Predecessor Companies. This cloth bound, 429 page book chronicles the history of General Dynamics. Designed by Erik Nitsche, one of our design heros, this book is the culmination of his tenure as General Dynamics art director between 1955 and 1960. Grace from Grain Edit stopped by our studio the other day for a chat and a tour of our space. Check it out here.
This is a little stop motion animation created by our intern, Silvia Alba, while she was with us this summer. She’s off to visit family in her native country of Colombia before she heads back to school at London’s Goldsmiths University. She also created a few cards with us for our line which we’ll be sharing soon.

Last night was the opening of Janette Beckman’s show, Archive of Attitude, at Arkitip’s Project Space in Los Angeles. Wish we had been there! On exhibit are a collection of Janette’s music photos spanning much of her career…. from photos of punks & mods in 1970’s-80’s London to the hip-hop scene in New York and LA in the 80’s. The show runs until September 5, 2010. Janette currently resides in NYC and is still making amazing photos… Rock On!

Louise Bourgeois, an American born in France on Christmas day, 1911 passed away this year on May 31st at age 98. Known for her sculptures, she was a New York fixture in the art scene for over seven decades. I am more drawn, however, to her stitch work- quiet and solitary. With her incredible eye, she took the pieces beyond the world of craft and into the realm of art. Graphic pleasures appliqued onto fine white linen… aged and yellowed over time; simplistic beauty indeed.

Introducing Penny Lane, the newest addition to our household. We found her abandoned right before a rainy thunder storm and gave her a safe place to stay. After spending a few weeks with her, our other cats are slowly getting to the stage of tolerance, but we’ve grown attached to every bit of her. We hope she grows into her ears.
It seems like a lot of our friends are reaching that next stage in life which includes introducing a new human into this world. We couldn’t be happier to welcome the next generation of enormous champions. While we have no little champions on the way (yet), we do have a new website in the oven. It’s been cooking for about 9 and a half months and is just about to come out of hiding. Stay tuned.

When lunch calls and you’re on the go, it’s always great to stumble upon your favorite lunch haunt but on wheels…. and parked right in front of you. Picking up where food carts left off… food trucks are finding their way around coast to coast. Elle Decor and New York Magazine both feature the Rickshaw truck which Jason and his team designed while at his previous job. Get yer dumplings on!
